Evangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...

On the London Underground once there was a guy in the standing area reading aloud (very!) from a bible, so I thought, ok, and started reading from my book. Others caught on and ditto. In no time the carriage was a regular Tower of Babel, and the first culprit slunk off at the next stop, defeated.

Reminds me of once on a city bus in Seattle, young guy was holding forth abt how great God's love was. Annoying at 1st but then weirdly inspiring. Young Black guy. White woman shouted out a Bible citation for him as she got off. Turned into a communal good vibe. (Plane preacher still not OK, tho.) 🙂

Of course it never happened (apart from the first chap, with the bible). We are talking about the LONDON Underground, after all! But it remains a favourite revenge fantasy of mine.
