I'm working on some tech improvements to ShatteredPD for the next patch, including a brightness slider that actually does something! It will now amp up(or down) brightness/contrast across the entire game. Here's how that looks going from -2 to +2: #gamedev #roguelike #pixelart #screenshotsaturday

A brightness slider that actually does something matters more than it sounds, dark dungeons are miserable on dim phone screens. Is the contrast boost applied per tile or as a final pass?

Its applied to the entire scene at the pixel shader level, so it affects everything, not just the dungeon tiles. The GIF crunches it a bit but you can see the inventory gets brighter too.

Indeed. More specifically this setting applies to multiplier to all existing color values, essentially boosting brightness and contrast. A flat color boost, or a scaling boost on a gamma curve, ends up looking washed out. The slider is still called brightness for simplicity though.

I've got a very niche case suggestion. A character that has been polymorphed into another one by cursed wand backlash should still look that way after bringing the Amulet of Yendor to the surface. My mage looking warrior sure got better...
