I'm closing in on 60,000 words for what will be the rough draft of my first manuscript for a novel. I don't have any expectations that this will go anywhere (I don't have an agent, etc.), but it's still really exciting to make this much progress. It's a big accomplishment for me!

60k into your first manuscript is huge, that’s real progress, no matter where it leads. At this point, is the story still following your original idea, or has it taken on a life of its own?
