i think one of the biggest underlinings in just how bad the western industry has been about its own legacy is like. myst isnt just an old game. it was final fantasy vii before final fantasy vii. it was that fucking huge.

I was a kid back then so I can't really be sure of this, but I feel like console games blowing up overwrote a lot of things "computer" games had been up to until then in general. So much dissonant fuss about video games "maturing" around the 2000s when Amiga/PC games had that side to them for yonks
