Leaked memo from Amazon that warns existing H1B holders to avoid travel back into the USA after the September 21st deadline - their lawyers evaluated the new executive order as not just affecting new applications

The whole thing is such a mess - they caused a massive travel panic over the weekend apparently for nothing It's probably not even legal anyway, congress is supposed to be involved in this from what I've heard

The legality only hinges on one rule that says visa fees can only be about recovering costs and processing-related work, not more. Otherwise, implementation of all visa-related issues is under the executive. The congress only sets up a broad framework (category, number under that category etc).

The whole EO is completely moot if it doesn't affect current visa holders. If the intent is to only affect future petitions, then the people who get H1B through that won't enter the US until October 2026, after this EO expires. Also if that's the intent, then it would just deny visas, not entry.
