These stories are shitting me. Card fees are just a business cost. You add up all your business costs, fixed and variable. You decide on a fair profit margin and set your prices accordingly. The customer pays the price on the price list. 1/2

Agree with the 1st sentence & the sentiment. Am confused there has been no pushback against the banks, who whinge about the costs of cash (yet manage to include this in their margins), but refuse to include the card fees in their margins. *currently invoicing the financial institutions for my data*

Yes, it’s shitting me as well. Worst “insight” in the article is the guy who doesn’t see any benefit to the change, but also doesn’t want to handle cash as it’s “just a hassle”. Whinging morons the lot of them!

And, of course, the security of not having a pile of cash attracting crims. I was always pleased to be trusted as a low level casual with taking a few thousand Dollars in an obvious bag down to the bank but I would have handed it over under threat

I remember the joys of ‘cashing up’ at the end of the day during my ill-fated One Hour Photo brief career in pre-card days, surely a few bucks to have that task electronically eased is helpful?

They are always asking the people to suit their agenda. What are we missing while we waste our brethe on the topic? Here is our settlement from yesterday. We have always absorbed as a cost. $0.23 per customer! There are bigger issues in the food & beverage industry than this!

And never a quote from a normal person with a normal brain saying "it's good that I know that the price I see will be the price I pay".

Yeah, I don't get why it's complicated either. Literally all I want from the change is the price on the menu matches the price I'm actually charged.

"Oh but some people don't pay by card!" So what. Some don't have sugar. Some don't use the bathroom. Using the cup is free, oh, but you want a *clean* cup? Someone had to clean that! 2/2, although I could continue.

You and I both know what the answer is. Running a cafe has a low barrier to entry, so it has a high percentage of idiots. They then discover running a business is like hard work and shit. Then whinge. “Why can’t I be rich by making coffee when I signed this expensive lease?!?” #notallcafeowners 😂

Was a manager for a business in the 80s/90s and had to attend meetings of business association.Quite a lucrative section of the building industry.Every small business sees any cost as the end of the world.Absolute horseshit.
