I like designing UI on Android but coding is still a pain. Just want it to expand code view to full screen instead of showing the side/bottom tabs when I expand it. It also keeps switching to portrait when I expand (entire godot is landscape outside of this)

It's just one of those things that adds a bunch of steps I don't want to deal with. Currently it's either press 5 buttons just to stay in landscape and have stuff in the way anyway or just not code in Android, so I choose not to code yet. Easier to convert projects to Android compatible UI

When you expand the code editor, it switches to portrait because your device's rotation is locked in portrait. You can enable device rotation, or lock it in landscape.

Name a single good reason why you would want everything else locked to landscape except the text editor, especially when it's a phone screen

Everything else is locked to landscape because those parts aren't optimized for portrait mode yet. We enabled orientation changes in the script editor because text editing in portrait is more comfortable on phones, and it was a feature requested by users in Android editor-related discussions.

Can there just be an option to disable it in settings or something? It's probably the most annoying feature I've ever seen on any mobile app

The only way I would ever enable this at all is if I had a tablet. For phones that don't have 4k width or something, it just doesn't make sense as a default setting

How does this help at all? I can't read anything now with it just deciding to go to portrait mode when I maximize code view
