Can’t wait for Ford to say their next car has “too much horsepower” and “too many modern features” and for anonymous engineers to claim they are “scared to release it”

If the government has tests or criteria for rating an AI model a national security concern, shouldn't the vendor be able to apply those tests/criteria before releasing the model?

Trump muses about the US taking ownership stakes in AI firms. Days later, a national-security export order forces Anthropic to kill its two top models—no explanation matching the breadth. Stated reason: security. Real result: leverage. A chokehold. The precedent should alarm everyone.

Several of my friends (I'm in the UK) work in companies that are pushing them to use Claude, but all of them had already been told to not use these new models because "the tokens are too expensive."

Maybe not exactly payback. On past pattern, next comes the government takeover, through a proxy, with assurances of no joblosses while all tech expertise is handed over, then vanishment inside the pentagon.
