A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

Hey remember a couple months ago when I almost died from sleep apnea and begged y'all to be checked if you have symptoms of sleep apnea? Eric Bauza just died from sleep apnea. We were the same age. Don't ignore sleep apnea.

Do you get a full night's sleep but wake up feeling like death? Does your whole body feel off in ways you can't explain? Research signs of Sleep Apnea. Get a sleep test. You can't diagnose it yourself, cuz you sleepin'.

Look, I know all the reasons we got here, but we really need to start seriously thinking about what we do in a world where The Markets punish whole countries for voting for decency, compassion, and fairness. We must stop pretending the capitalist machine is an objective, value neutral force.

It's very, very telling, I think, that the markets are so concerned about the pro-democracy incumbent winning

Oh no! I met Walter years ago at Fanexpo and he was a very nice, down to earth guy. He kindly let me ramble on for a minute about what I enjoyed about Star Trek. RIP to a legend! 💔

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

I've thought about getting a smart TV a few times in the last few years but couldn't decide what OS I wanted, now I'm glad I still have my regular TV with no software on it at all.

We must expect that Meta's interference is happening in other elections around the world *right now*. This isn't just a one-off. Meta has proved repeatedly they are committed to advancing far-right agendas worldwide, are serial liars, and are flagrantly indifferent to the dismantling of democracies.

The most important reply I’ve had to this post. We’re now in a society where any trans person could be decided by the press to be their target of the day, and so every trans person is potentially at risk of this level of extremely public harassment. It’s so fucking grim. bsky.app/profile/goth...

If you live in Toronto and you haven’t voted already, please vote today. Olivia Chow may not be perfect but she’s secured record housing funds, expanded school meals, and improved services like 911 and libraries. Bradford wants to help Ford destroy our city. So please vote - it matters!

I love how car people who hate bike lanes in Toronto never acknowledge that the biggest cause of traffic in Toronto is letting cars park on the street especially for main streets. #Toronto #TO

Honestly several things are depressing about ai but the two that stand out are the eagerness of people to outsource thought because cognitive effort is uncomfortable, and the casualness with which people use the shiny, easy thing knowing it's bad for climate change

Eyeglasses, especially strong prescriptions. When I was a kid my dad had the "Coke bottle glasses". Heavy, thick. My eyesight is as bad as his was and my glasses are so light and thin

There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, “we will survive” Let’s do that some more

So the other day I had a "Buck Martinez hotdog" at a Jays game, it was delicious with ketchup, mayo, chorizo sausage crumble and crunchy onions, and then I realized Buck very famously said ketchup doesn't belong on hotdogs so did they make this to prank him?? @jchidleyhill.bsky.social do you know? 😂

The idea of the AI developer as someone burgeoning with wonderful, never before seen ideas who just needed the tools to realize them is by and large a fantasy. The reality of the AI developer is someone producing spam at volume who has no ideas of their own, so just clone something popular.

The recent story about all the Needle in a Haystack clones that suddenly popped up is very instructive of the kind of slop I complain about clogging up my inboxes all the time; clones of something else. For all the talk of enabling creativity, all I ever see from AI "devs" is someone else's idea.

It always comes back to this for me; if AI was so good, such a disclosure would be a selling point. If AI was everything these slop jockeys said it was, they should be proud to let people know their game was AI made. But the proof is in the pudding, and they can't stand that people don't want it.

Arabic names (including Somali and Egyptian names) are usually patrilineal patronymics. Your "middle name" is typically your father's first name. Your "last name" could be your grandfather's first name or your family name, or both, and you might use both interchangeably. None of this is nefarious.
