Been working on this little hobby project for several weekends. It's ready to show my friends. Most sky apps tell you what's up. Dark Hours tells you the truth: whether tonight is worth it, when, and which way to look. Free, no account, go nuts! darkhours.io #astronomy #stargazing

Nice work! Here’s the source code from an open source project I wrote that is nearly exactly like it: github.com/mbeher2200/D... That’s such a strange coincidence. Same name and feature set even.

Feature by feature dude. The day after I post to Reddit. Seriously? You couldn’t even setup the data sources correctly because that was not done in the repo.

I didn’t see your project on Reddit and I hadnt seen your project until you commented on this. Like I mentioned in comments I used Claude to adapt the ios app. It was an adaptation on ephemeris code i had written in January for app I was working on that was rejected from the app store.

This is neat! One caveat: some of the suggestions for "where should I go instead" are "In The Pacific Ocean". This map is the 21km SW of Isla Vista row. (caveat two: there's KM here even though I have the settings set to mi)

Hi Jack. I’m the developer of darkhours.app a free, open source app I started writing around June. The github repo has the full history if anyone wants to check it out. It certainly took more than a few weekends to write. github.com/mbeher2200/D... My app doesn’t have the location bug, btw.
