If you look at it from the perspective that he wants to annex Canada, then it makes sense what he is doing.

He's not calculating. This guy is the intrusive thought of the worst kind of American. He's purely instinctual. He's not some evil wizard playing 3D chess. He's a cat who got dropped on it's head chasing a reflected beam of light and scratching you if you get too close to his food

And he knows this. djt put tariffs on farm goods in his first term with possible devastating consequences for farmers. djt used taxpayer dollars to cover his thoughtless tariffs and make the farmers whole. And the farmers voted for him again. He knew. They knew. This is dangerous stupidity.

Trudeau nailed it, saying Trump's tariffs are designed to tank Canada's economy, making the country easier to annex. That is what it's about with Trump, always, the end goal has nothing to do with how his shit looks at the get go.

He believes there are no "brakes" on his behavior. If the midterms turn out the traitors in the House and Senate, he may find his CORRUPT SCOTUS cannot save him or his stupid, incompetent, dangerous cabinet crooks.

It's not inexplicable - it's the inevitable result of elevating a psychopath to the highest position of our political system. The tariffs are irrational from every perspective except one - a narcissist whose fragile ego drives him to self-soothe by attacking everyone who makes him feel inadequate.

That's because this is a Putin order. Putin needs us to be fighting with our neighbors so that we are more vulnerable.

Trump actually thinks he is smarter than everybody else and everyone will eventually realize how brilliant his ideas are.

This assumes the players are willing to play by the rules. If you intend to break the rules and ignore elections, the political calculus changes and you only care about a small group of oligarchs who enable your power.
