Let's remind each other: the "free press" is at real risk of extinction during Trump’s second term

If we thought alternative facts were bad … MAGA govt will spout repeated lies that Trump won in 2020, then sue reporters that call out the lies & threaten networks over broadcast licenses. Will networks stop calling out lies & hide behind both-sidesing everything even worse than they do already?

ABC, WaPo and LA Times remind us that (a) it has turned out really badly to have media in the hands of oligarchs, and (b) that if you’re afraid of people in power, you shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the control of media companies.

I saw a comment that said Jack Welch was responsible for the now broken idea that news needed to make money. Now the tv faces are celebrities and lying makes money for “news” video media. The people are pretty and smile when they lie but it is harder to view reality. We need news to be news again
