Thank you so much for offering this. My character suffered a placental abruption and I’d like the baby to be well, but mother to have lost enough blood she’s hospitalized for several days. Realistic? And would baby likely be in the NICU?

I'm glad to meet you. Somehow doctors and medicine keep showing up in my work. I'm interested in the field of narrative medicine as well, and in how doctors and medical professionals are portrayed in fiction.

1/2 Hello! I'm back with another question. Glad to see you have a place to categorize them! What should I be careful about while writing about mold sickness? In the story, there has been continuous rain for weeks in a mountainous area and that caused a mold sickness epidemic.

2/2 The pov character is a pharmacist who can use magic and I need to show him examining the patients and administering medicine, cough-drops being one of them. The tech is victorian era level but there's magic, as mentioned

Mold is a form of fungus. Much harder to get, and diabetics tend to be more prone to them. You should use something like valley fever (coccidiomycosis) as your inspiration. Respiratory illness starting as a pneumonia (fever, cough). After a few weeks can get much sicker and meningitis. Good luck!

Very valid, I figured you mean no malice by it. I would say look for stock images for now or check out Picrew and make a basic avatar. I can try to find one that may have medical accessories if you'd like and provide the link.

I'd like to piggyback on this post with my own experiences: I am a sexually active #gay man who is widowed by another man ( #MexicanAmerican #Dreamer #Hopeful ) who lost his life to a #heroin (laced with #fentanyl) #overdose. #writingcommunity #sources #reality #technicalconsultant #advisor

I am very familiar with how #Anonymous #12step #Recovery groups ( #AA , #NA , #CMA, #OEA, #SA ) operate all over the USA and I worked with the #FBI as a CI to help them apprehend 2 men who were committing #CrimesAgainstChildren. I have #travel led through all 48 inland United #States and lived in 7.

Hi. I've got a question about FALL DAMAGE My character fell (leapt) from a height, hitting some heavy tree branches on the way down. What's the probability they didn't damage any organs? And how long would it take for symptoms of severe internal bleeding to show?

You can make this as traumatic as you like! Depends on height, how supple the branch is, how fast they fall when they hit that first branch, etc Same with internal bleeding. You can have weird bruising show up hours later and the character gets progressively more lightheaded and weak as they bleed

Thank you so much for offering your knowledge! I have what is hopefully an easy question. As part of my hitman MC's backstory, he is stabbed non-fatally and gets patched up by his medical examiner girlfriend, bringing them closer together. Where on the body is a good place for this stab wound?
