Besides, what are your favorite works by The Wachowskis? Between the Matrix series, Cloud Atlas, Speed Racer, Sense8 😍, Jupiter Ascending, The Animatrix, etc, what a legacy already offered to sci-fi! I love them.

The Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending was released TEN years ago today. A space opera that failed to find its audience, but which has the merit of having attempted to bring Flash Gordon (kind of) into the 21st century. And not to have been pulled out of a IP. I should watch that movie again. πŸ˜„

The Matrix is one of the greatest movies ever made. I think part of it was due to the fast approaching new millennium and belief in religion was declining. It may be a trans allegory, but at that time, it brought the idea of living in a simulation to the forefront. And RATM at the end!

This is a bit niche but the Wachowskis wrote the intros to each issue of this back in 2004. The artist Geoff Darrow was a production designer on the Matrix movies and to a lesser extent Speed Racer. It was published by Burlyman Entertainment,a Wachoski company.

Cloud Atlas is one of those movies that I went to see while knowing every little about it and then when I left the theater I was still stuck in the movie for a while. I enjoyed the Matrix and Jupiter Ascending was fun but Cloud Atlas is the one that left the biggest impression on me

Lilly Wachowski wrote and executive produced on Work in Progress, a show remarkable for two things: (1) The most authentic, nuanced representation of the queer community across generations I've seen on television and (2) a reparative effort addressing the harm of SNL's "It's Pat".

Cloud Atlas is my personal favourite, but Speed Racer may be the Sisters' best work. Whenever I teach the Matrix, I teach it as the critical bridge film between the Blockbuster 1990s and the CGI 2000s, and that's a huge technical/structural achievement.

Speed Racer, without question. It's just too good. While it's not sci-fi, Bound is still #2 on the list, and you can see so much of what goes into The Matrix in there, from the camera choices, the music, to the presence of Joey Pants.

I would say Sense 8. Really loved the concept, the characters, one of my favorite show. Cloud Atlas is one of my favorite movie as well, I was lucky to see it twice in theatre, 12 years appart, what a masterpiece.

I don't think Cloud Atlas really works, but I SO admire the chutzpah it took to attempt to adapt that book. They did a far better job than most would have.

Speed Racer is criminally underappreciated. Also, even though they just wrote it and didn't direct, V for Vendetta is (while depressingly prescient) an absolute masterpiece of a film. I lowkey hate that it's imagery got hijacked by some of the worst types of people.

I really loved that movie. "Your world is a very small part of a very big business" Great soundtrack too. We got into trouble from the neighbours once for watching it too loud. We got a note under the door because we didn't hear them knock.

I think the world of Jupiter could have used a lot of spinoff material. I think the universe has a lot of interesting concepts to explore, it’s a shame it flopped.
