The game design is inspired by the first episode of the show (after the miniseries), "33" (2004). That is to say, Caprica has just been attacked by surprise by the Cylons, and we will attempt to lead a small fleet to the Battlestar Galactica. But the Cylons keep finding us despite our FTL jumps.

The new game from the creators of Crying Suns also draws inspiration from FTL (the game, 2012). There are about ten sectors to traverse before reaching the Galactica. Each sector consists of about ten turns. At each turn, you perform an action. This could be completing a mission, upgrading a...

...civilian ship in the fleet, or producing a small amount of resources. But Scattered Hopes (SH) is also inspired by Reigns, and there are randomly crises to solve, small (nice) storylines for which you have to carry out missions, make (un)ethical and/or political choices, or spend resources.

But there are still other layers of game design. There are factions (military, workers, criminals) whose relationships must be managed, and who can provide powerful bonuses or trigger a general strike. There is a Cylon whose identity must be discovered.

The moment I saw the game announced I was surprised it'd taken this long for someone to make that game. It's such an iconic episode from the series and the escalating tension makes it perfect for translating into that kind of game
