It might be a controversial take I'm giving here, but I think we really need to stop pushing people away who genuinely want to progress from their unpleasant pasts. Nobody's perfect.

It took them a long time to stop being angrily defensive every time they would get criticized for racist "comedy". I'd never say they've -matured- in recent years, but so many of the people they used to hang out with turned into monsters, and that has to be a wake-up call.
