was watching the grayfruit gimmick video and was curious as to what he thought of the sequel. found an edit of his stream and he stops playing the game entirely to talk about how he makes things into acronyms. i think that's a pretty good indicator of how interesting gimmick 2 is

“protein enriched chocolate chip cookie” is kinda the perfect synthesis of the conflicting american male desires to be a spartan warrior and also five years old

the problem with a lot of twitch chats i see (especially oatsngoats and roffle) is that they try to be funnier than the streamer and it usually never works

i dont care how oversaturated it got as an aesthetic post-halo, space and alien planets are fucking cool

Nieveria

this is part of why i feel sad that everyone making a metroidvania either doesn't do either style or exclusively does castlevania's style because the alien planets of metroid games are consistently more interesting to look at

You know what would make foldable phones cool? If they weren't actually connected and were two seperate displays. like... Dual Screens of some kind

fuck it im gonna say it metroid dread's combat is only barely "deeper" than other m's and it's because you have to aim and dodge manually rather than automatically

Not sure if you're aware of this, but here's a list of some non-ai decomps and recomps: docs.google.com/document/d/1... And there's additional lists in there too!

docs.google.comNon-AI Decomps and RecompsAround the early 2020s, we witnessed a decompilation that changed everything. The ability to play your classic games NATIVELY on your PC with mods at uncapped FPS? It’s a dream come true! Thanks to do...

also its not even like dread's combat has much more depth to it than like, super's. it's the same song and dance of pressing the fuckin shoot button until your entire forearm's numb, just with a parry mechanic now where you get to watch samus do cool shit instead of doing the cool shit yourself

Nieveria
@nieveria.lol

but now we also have samus being able to shoot as fast as you press the Y button aka Literally Caused The Game's Speedrunning Community To Allow Turbo Controllers To Prevent Hand Injuries

im not trying to come off as a hater i still like the game for everything else but i think combat is a stupid fucking avenue for metroid to randomly start emphasizing when in the past you just shoot fucking missiles at the guys and it worked fine
