When Zohran broke through with “affordability” it was because it was paired with specifics (freeze the rent, fast and free buses). I just sat through an open house primary where every single candidate said “affordability” as much as possible with zero specifics

Specifics, or lack thereof, seems to be the problem with the Democratic Party consultant epidemic. They want to turn every win or loss into some kind of strategy lesson.

Like the Markey/Moulton race. So Markey wins. Does that mean we don’t have a problem with too many people hanging out in politics for too long? Does that mean a younger challenger will never win? Does that mean the old establishment doesn’t have to change anything?

NO! It means that *this* younger candidate put his foot in his mouth with regards to trans people, does not seem genuine to his constituents, and seems to be cozy with the establishment, among other things.

It means that *this* older candidate has a better rapport with his constituents, a better rapport with various groups for social issues, etc. I’m not saying I know all the reasons, but I do know it doesn’t necessarily extrapolate to all young/old face offs.
