Welcome to the bsky game dev orientation 🧵! Let's get you started with the basics of bsky, finding other devs, and posting about your games! Btw, this is based on the amazing artist orientation thread from @purlane.ink; make sure to check it out if you’re also in the art side of game dev!

Welcome to the Bluesky artist orientation 🧵! This will get you started on the basics of how this network works, how to connect with other artists, and how to get your art seen. If you’re a furry, I also highly recommend checking out @buttplug.engineer's furry orientation thread below:

Hello I'm JR3DFUL, I love making procedural systems and shaders. I work mostly with Unreal, Blender, and Godot! I'll post a lot of my weird experiments and sometimes my shader setups, so drop a follow if you're interested in that 💚

Hi, I'm Deano, I'm a game dev from last century. Quarter of a century and still here somehow. At Snapshot Games in Bulgaria currently. Jack of all trades and master of none, these days I'm a game designer who sometimes writes low level system code. Restore old hardware and dabble in FPGA as a hobby.

Make sure to check out the updated orientation packet!

First, you’re going to want to write up your intro skeet! Don’t bother making it a reply in any of the intro threads, tho… we’ll get to that in a bit. Include the #GameDev tag to ensure your intro shows up in the game dev feed. 😍

Next, let’s talk about custom feeds. They’re a whole big topic all on their own, so I wrote up a thread about them. TL;DR - Custom feeds are community-managed timelines that you can subscribe to.

WHAT IS A CUSTOM FEED‽ A lot of people are still confused about it, so I figured a thread might help clarify. On other social platforms, algorithms are governed by the platform owners. On bsky, algorithms are created, owned, and managed by the community (gimme that means of production bebe).
