Hey #GameDev, what are everybody's thoughts on ads in the game dev feed? I'm looking for ways to support my work, so lemme explain about what this would look like. 🧵

i think this is a bad idea. one of the best things about this app is the lack of advertising, and the genuineness of it all. running ads on the best game dev feed on here might honestly ruin this feed for me, please don't do it if you can afford it. I'd much rather support a patreon or something.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Honestly, if ads end up making the feed feel less genuine I'll end up removing them. I also use the feeds, so they have to be up to snuff for me. 😁 As for the Patreon thing, I actually mentioned that in the quoted skeet. 😉

Also, if there's demand for an ad-free version I may do a subscription (Ko-fi, Patreon, etc) for a couple bucks a month to get access to an ad-free version of the feed (or maybe the ads just won't show up for you, I dunno). We'll see. Unfortunately I've gotta support my work somehow.

heavily promote your kofi on the feed, letting people know that donations help keep the feed running ad-free. like pin the posts or something so that everyone sees it I'd really appreciate if you tried something like that first, before pulling the trigger on ads.
