Hey #GameDev, what are everybody's thoughts on ads in the game dev feed? I'm looking for ways to support my work, so lemme explain about what this would look like. 🧵

I get the sentiment, but the discussion is never that simple.

The picture only touches the tip of the iceberg - that's only the "companies shoving ther shit to the consumer" part. Especially on social media, its more often than not billionaires buing themselves power the should not have in a democracy. Anyways. I purge anything with ads from my life.

I'm not talking about you, talking about the people who would give you money for our attention. I mean, I am all about supporting creators, giving them the freedom to do something they love and make all of our lives better. I am happy to give my money for that, but not to rent out my brains.

What if the people paying for your attention are just other members of the community? Game jams, engines, artists for hire, etc. I understand not wanting Nike to further imprint on your brain, but what we're really talking about here is allowing the community a platform to speak back to itself.

Difficult question. I mean, wouldn't you want this kind of Information in the feed anyways? I know this from special interest/hobbyist forums where for example suppliers of the field have a special channel for product announcements. But there I have to actively seek out this information -
