It seems people are often afraid of liking their own art work due to the worry of being perceived as egotistical or conceited, but you can still love your work and have a huge driving force behind that acting as a love for learning and improving. You can be proud and seek joy while you grow.

I mentioned this elsewhere but on a journal site, I'd use an icon of Kate Beaton's Shakespeare going 'Look at my latest, it is goddamn glorious' whenever I posted a new story or art and out of the blue a friend was like 'it makes you look arrogant' and fie on them. FIE.

I think it’s totally possible to hold both ‘I suck’ and ‘I rock’ in one’s head. Coz I’ve done that for my life and well, still here 😅 (Point is it can’t be ‘I suck’ all the time, at some level you must believe you are good, otherwise why do this)

I feel like for me it's hard to love my work cause of: 1 seeing all the issues as we all do as artists. 2 people not reciprocating the love we have for some of our works that we really enjoy. They seem to enjoy the dumb stuff but not the ones we pour our hearts out into.

I made over 20 watercolor bookmarks, thought I'd try to sell them on FB for 4th of July. Not a single one of them sold. Which kinda sucks cause I really enjoyed making these simple and cute lil bookmarks.
