July 2026 is the month that at home I will be completely free from both Microsoft and Google services, as my dependency on both was increasingly frustrating me, despite some strong services they offer. Both accounts closed and running subscriptions cancelled.

On my new Windows 11 laptop, I was forced to pay for an Office 365 subscription as the very last step of the setup process. No amount of searching found any way around it. The first thing I did was go to the Microsoft subscriptions page and cancel.
