things like this always reduce the quality of the workforce why? people who aren't good at their job will stay put knowing they won't get a better gig will stay & people who are good at their job will take the payout and get hired somewhere else

I love being reminded that the audience really doesn’t give a shit about the developers. Like, forget that one of the most influential studios in our industry was just executed by its publisher, just make sure the product continues on the assembly lines!

After hearing news of BioWare's closure on Wednesday, over 75,000 Mass Effect fans have signed a petition demanding that EA put another studio in charge of the franchise or license out the IP. https://bit.ly/4siIubW

Canada's constitution is on the precipice of being opened and rights rolled back + corporate & billionaire giveaway thanks to that useless rat fuck David Eby & sociopath cuntservative Mark Carney

Carney’s lack of an industrial strategy beyond build infrastructure, cut regulation & let the market figure it out, is a problem because we’re in truly transformative times. Bailouts like this show the government is reacting, not planning. It’ll end up costing in the long run, with little in return.

Ottawa continues to initiate all kinds of industrial policies without having a coherent long-term industrial strategy - which was promised in the Throne Speech in May 2025. www.thestar.com/business/opi...

calling non-voters idiots is a waste of time and effort regardless of how true or false it may be at best they're not engaged enough to ever hear that and you're wasting your breathe, and at worst you'll just discourage them even further It's the corporal punishment of political engagement

David Eby’s legacy = human rights violating military raid on Wet’suwet’en as AG, cheating in the leadership race to become Premier, simping for LNG, colossally failing to uphold DRIPA, worst snap election in Canadian history

People can vote for whoever they want, that's democracy. You didn't care about vote-splitting with the BC Greens when you rejected the all-party recommendation for an electoral reform citizens' assembly. You had your chance to reform the system, so whatever happens on election day is on you.

David Eby@davidebybc.bsky.social

Supporters of the BC NDP and the Green Party share a lot of the same values. Strong public health care, protecting the place we call home, and asking the wealthiest to chip in more to build a stronger B.C.

swing voters who decide elections swing between voting or the couch, NOT parties. theres so much research on this. Biden 2020 voters who switched to Trump 2024 voters: ≈2.5 million Biden 2020 voters who stayed home in 2024: ≈19 million bsky.app/profile/t0us... www.weekendreading.net/p/how-trump-...

AGAIN, Pew shows what we have known for 20yrs. Rare is the party switcher or swing voter who changes from one party to the next each election. Its mostly a choice of the booth vs the couch & in 2024 Harris lost more to the couch than trump did. its why she lost, not blk/latino men switching parties

At least $50 billion for another pipeline. $82 billion in new military spending in 5 years. $300 billion in corporate welfare and mega incentives at an investment summit. But the cupboard is bare for Parks Canada.

2,671 PSAC members at Parks Canada received notice this week that their positions may be cut. These cuts put our environment, natural and cultural heritage, parks, and national historic sites at risk. psacunion.ca/psac-raises-...

By my napkin math, total Bell Labs research expenditures from 1930-1980 were on the order of $50 billion in 2026 dollars. AI companies have spent ~$1 trillion so far: The equivalent of ~20 Bell Labs histories. In its history, Bell Labs researchers discovered the transistor, the solar cell, the laser

Funny thought experiment: Tech monopolies have spent about $1 trillion on AI development so far. How good of a chatbot could we have built for $1 trillion by just employing smart people to answer any question people might reasonably ask and collecting all the answers in a big lookup table?

Liberals and Conservatives are rushing to pass Bill C-39 with little time to hear from Canadians and pass amendments. The bill gives cabinet ministers the power to declare entire regions of the country in which major projects can ignore virtually every environmental protection.

Canadians can’t afford rent. Food bank use is at a record high. Wages are stagnant while the rich are getting richer than ever before. Of all the people who could use this kind of federal support right now, venture capitalists are at the bottom of that list. www.theglobeandmail.com/business/art...

Why is this government allowing Israeli companies blacklisted for genocide to acquire Canadian companies - contrary to our own laws and policies? The government's response is what exactly?

rohan 🇦🇶 reposted

This is obscene. This government is an obscenity. Canada has 200,000 year-round unhoused people and millions more who are food and housing-insecure. None of them are venture capitalists. Carney has defunded our services and is attacking what remains, including public health.

Ottawa is launching $1.75b in venture capital support to help Canadian startups grow and remain in Canada. The package includes $1b for venture capital investment—including dedicated funding for life sciences and emerging fund managers—and $750m primarily aimed at later-stage companies.
