this is kind of a niche issue but: if you are getting weird and hostile responses that feel a little off, there are some folks on here making accounts that automatically reply to large quantities of posts in a vaguely hostile manner. you can ignore them, and also, it's not personal

i believe the way those work is they're hooked up to chatgpt or something like that and they just reply in really high volumes; you can identify them by looking at their reply tab and seeing if they're talking faster than anyone could reasonably type.

and also i want to be really clear that if you get this you didn't DO anything to provoke this kind of weird automated behavior, they're really just siccing the bot on everyone and your account happened to come up.

Yesterday I commented on a post and this account replied either "bzzt wrongo" to whatever I said.

There is a block list of these accounts at bsky.app/profile/did:... run by @kuntieplopkins.bsky.social . The list is sometimes empty or nearly so; I guess that once we all block an account it gets closed down and vanishes from the list.

I vet everyone. I’m surprised to see some people with 20k plus followers that have two or three re-posts and/or replies. I don’t go near those, sorry!🤷‍♀️ Gotta be careful, Resisters💙 If you see someone suspicious, report it to BlueSky

Oh, for sure. You could spot those bots a mile away on Twitter because they'd post entire paragraphs of the vaguest imaginable platitudes, copied and pasted straight out of ChatGPT. 🤡

ChatGPT has an API, no need for a human copying and pasting. It can be automated.
