"you wanted a pony" is the guilt talking. the knowledge that you didn't push the party to do the right thing out of triangulation and cowardice. you tried to play a very dangerous game of enticing the enemy at the expense of alienating your allies and you're lashing out the people who warned you.

you can't lecture the world when you have absolutely no insight into human behavior. people to the left of you AND to the right of you have sincere ideological commitments. it means you can't get the ones on the right to vote for dems and you can't get the left to eat shit to coddle your tactics.

the expectation that the people whose rights you consider negotiable should still vote for you because you don't want to immiserate them quite as much is contemptible. it makes you wholly untrustworthy because you're clearly willing to hurt them more than your opening position. fuck you.

But this assumes that what moved the voters who could be moved were their ideological commitments. I’m not so sure. The evidence suggests Trump won because voters hated inflation, and that’s pretty much it. Not Gaza.

Imagine there is an election. One person is donald trump and everything that entails, the other guy says it's okay for your people/family to be ethnically cleansed but he'll wring his hands about how it's done. How are you supposed to vote for the lesser of two evils?

Also, by the same rhetoric, they wanted 2 ponies. A centrist woman POC as head of state and leftists shut out of power. They got 1

It's especially blatant now that the excuse seems to be that they can't talk about [insert pressing issue here] because it's a distraction from economy/healthcare issues. We wanted candidates to run on economy/healthcare issues, and we were told it was electoral poison back then!
