President Trump has so far withheld federal relief funds, with many arguing that California Gov. Gavin Newsom and other Democrats in the deep-blue state have mishandled the fires and should be forced to rescind liberal policies in exchange for aid.

Once again, Republicans reward incompetence. The more incompetent their fellow Republicans are, the more support they receive. The truth is, the Texas Republican government refused to install flood warning systems because of cost, and those people died to save money. Again.

Many? SOME Republicans... Damn I wish you still reported the news. You're my home town paper, and now I have to spread out the second section to pull the DC news in the Metro section, and others are searching the pile for the formerly respected Sports pages.

So a treasonous asshole who likes to rape little girls want to kill more Americans and the Washington Post don't give a fuck? Get your tongues OUT of Trump's sticky treasonhole -- nothing you can do will turn back time and make your Daddy love you this time, guys

We have an obvious 'quid pro quo' government. No aid to those states, counties, or cities who didn't vote for Trump. These feckless GOP Members in Congress had better grow a spine and take their power back and govern for their constituents, or they will soon become extinct...

Q: There are reports where a fire dept commander asked a Kerr County sheriff dispatcher for a code red to be issued but they said they couldn't without a supervisor approving it. Almost 6 hours passes. How do you account for that lapse of time? KERR COUNTY SHERIFF: There's gonna be an after action

This may be the most shocking thing about this disaster. Kerr County authorities wanted to install a flood warning system along the rivers. But the locals voted against it. So in a way the Texas culture of individualism over everything contributed a great deal to the high death toll.
