Starmer is absolutely determined to follow in the US Democrats footpath. He won't fix or actually actually address the problems this country faces and the dissatisfied and disillusioned public will turn to the madness of Reform and their version of Trumpism.

Water UK were 'established in 1998 to form a single voice for the water industry across the UK'. In 2019 they made a big deal about a survey that suggested the UK public were happy with privatised water. When a poll in 2024 showed that 82% want water in public hands, they were silent on the topic.

Every bill payer should withhold payment until they make the changes. Money is the only thing they understand. We make payments on the understanding they provide a service. That service isn’t being provided so why should we pay it.

We (by which I assume you mean the state) absolutely do have billions and would receive billions more from revenue over the years of ownership. Also, it doesn't *have* to cost billions - it only costs that if you care about compensation for shareholders. A government is not obliged to care.

Totally don't agree with this! Nationalising water would be the BEST outcome. We are currently paying higher bills because they borrowed money to pay to shareholders, disgusting! Why should I be subsidising some fat cat? #NationaliseWater

Steve Reed was in Portsmouth yesterday at the south east Labour regional conference. Wish we protested. Found out through my local mp Stephen Morgan. Thankfully I posted the petition telling reed to consider public ownership in this new commission. Let’s hope Stephen Morgan doesn’t delete the link

How would you pay for nationalisation? Please don't tell it should be ours, I feel the same about my meccano, but I sold it to use the money for something else I could just steal it back I suppose?

no, it wasnt, no matter how often you say it! the govt at the time had an asset, they sold that asset and used the money to prop up public finances if you want it back you have to at least offer to pay back the money you accepted. where would you get it from?

Signed and shared. My water bill is increasing by 64%, Thames Water. This is their response to me: Thank you for the details. The direct debit payment plan amount increased by the system to cover up present and future bills. If any carryforward amount in the account is adjusted in the account.

Signed! After the shocking failures of water privatisation & the crazy increases to our bills coming in April which will just go to paying off their debts and dividends why is nationalisation not even being considered as an option!?! 🧐

If Steve Reed MP sets up "the biggest review into the water sector since privatisation" and disallows any consideration of ownership, then HIS ALLEGIANCES ARE WITH CORPORATE POWER. There is no possibility of any "market" in water provision to the public. This is a Neoliberal rip-off! Corruption?

Not quite correct: the word 'review' doesn't define the parameters of the review per se, and these can be as broad or narrow as the group commissioning the review decides. If the review isn't open to covering public ownership, there won't be anything in it that would allow govt to go that way.

Without inclusion of a renationalisation option, the review's completely pointless. The Government know this, but simply don't care. Once again, putting on public display their ideological bankruptcy.
