Where are you planning to switch to? I’d like to use Apple Passwords, I think, but my work computer is Windows and it’s locked down, preventing installation of iCloud for Windows.

FYI, #Bitwarden is run by a private equity fanboy, and they removed phrasing equivalent to “don’t be evil” from their main ethos on their site, and only readded it - in a subsection - after public outcry. I’ve been a Bitwarden fan for years and am starting the search for a new service again. :(

Have you considered that this is just a name-calling rant that doesn’t bring any actual receipts? And in fact omits the ones he alludes to? Actual link to the referenced Verge story, and actual quoted text: https://www.theverge.com/tech/988536/1password-dhh-linux-controversy

I do sort of want to come in here and say that DHH very very definitely did write a long piece talking about how London wasn’t the city he remembered, that it had been taken over by immigrants and that Tommy Robinson was fighting back against it.

Pretty much any Briton who isn’t part of the far right and who knows anything about Tommy Robinson knows the man is a racist far right thug with views extremely close to simple Nazism. The man was a member of the English Defence League, a far right organization built on football hooliganism.

I do think it’s fine that they’re supporting Omarchy. But here I’m simply pointing out that this post by Ottenheimer grossly distorts the cited message on 1Password’s company Slack.

Another vote for bitwarden as reliable alternative. If you’re in the Apple ecosystem their Passwords setup is very seamless and capable. ProtonPass is decent and Proton as a company is mostly fine but unless you’re using other services of theirs as well it’s less cost effective I think.

I’m running Vaultwarden, the open source backend. The smart plan here is that we also start developing client software.
