Too many questionable elements to this reporting. I'll respond to a few items. But this level of writing is not worthy of a lot of attention. Two auditors are quoted. Where were they and their coworkers the past 20 years? Why has gov not investigated the "1,200 recommendations" from the HHS?

The "anonymous" auditors also say, it "can take anywhere from six to 18 months" to examine "just a single project or part of an agency". Do young people, who can't afford to buy a house or seniors who will receive reduced SS and Medicare want to wait decades for the federal government to fixed?

And who defines "waste" and "fraud". There are programs that probably could pass an audit, but the programs themselves are questionable. The Status Quo Has Failed. Some valid programs and people will be cut. That's how the real world works. The country will be better off in the long run.

No shit! No responsible entity audits and cuts without a communicated plan in place for what to do after and the fallout. It's such a gross misuse of our public money. It's mind blowing!

Good article but there is so much information on this topic that it wouldn’t even fit in the FAR and DFAR combined. It would be nice if all elected officials were honest about this instead of going along. We understand the GOP but why the Dems?

Also some of what they call fraud is from city and states that then contract out work that later gets audited and the contractor is found to be lying. And the government recovers the money.

Musk knows as much about auditing as he does parenting. Just coincidentally Tesla accts are trying to find 1.7bill accounting error, or possibly missing funds.
