Fed here. Facilities just changed the hardware on our bathrooms and now the entire office only has two keys. We used to each have our own key. They didn’t send an email to us to let us know. They’ve decreased accessibility on purpose.

Meanwhile, at DHS, the backlog of Global Entry applications now means a wait of 14+ months to get enrolled. And, of course, that means more work and more inefficiency at the actual border, because more people have to be (unnecessarily) checked on arrival and departure.

It's hard to buy toilet paper with a Doges credit card, and it's one dollar budget. What a colossal $hitshow with 47 and musk at the helm.

I’m still struggling with how you all can continue to report that he has a mandate when he only won by one percent and didn’t even get half of the votes. It’s a mystery to me.

One effect of all this, many federal employees tell WIRED, is that they are travelling long distances in order to spend all of their time in virtual meetings. A Treasury employee says they spend most of their time at the office on video calls as well. www.wired.com/story/federa...

Wrong! We WERE spending time in virtual meetings. I used to spend half my day in meetings with various Federal Labs (APL, SANDIA, PNWL, MITRE, SEI). Gone without as much as a goodbye. I now spend my days pretending to do the work of 150 senior security engineers and researchers.

It isn’t just traveling to work to sit on Zoom calls—it’s that there may be no place to take the call, or no working internet to connect to it. WIRED granted employees anonymity to speak freely about their experiences. www.wired.com/story/federa...

Though Trump and Musk have claimed the mandate would result in huge productivity increases, more than 30 federal employees at 17 federal agencies tell WIRED the return to office order has resulted in widespread chaos, plummeting productivity, and significantly reduced services to the public.

Well of course, more users on same infrastructure? Wifi in most large offices already sucked with much lower occupancy rates and in the days before video calls. Now everyone schleps in to take calls over teams/zoom etc. It can't handle the number of devices or the amount of data. Makes sense.

That’s the point - to be ineffective and frustrated. Part to quit, making the rest even more ineffective. This will be used to justify the privatization of the public services, which is the ultimate goal of these billionaires.
