In an apparent policy shift, US president Donald Trump has called on House Republicans to vote for a bill that would force the Department of Justice to release the Epstein files. As president, Trump could just order the Department of Justice to release the files, without needing a vote.

Wired is the only media outlet I’ve seen so far that so prominently stated that Trump could release the files right now if he wanted to. They also used the word “apparent,” which calls into question if it’s genuinely what it appears to be. But sure, get mad at Wired. 🙄

As others have said, he's just being a d!ck about it because the EF can't be released while they are part of an on going investigation into connections powerful Dems have/had with Epstein. It's an investigation he, himself, ordered. The phrase "crocodile tears" comes to mind.

And because Trump directed the DOJ to investigate Bill Clinton's dealings with Epstein, they can (and will) keep everything out of the release of the files that they don't want exposed. "Due to an ongoing investigation..." They think we're stupid.

The failure to appoint a non-partisan special prosecutor to lead an investigation into all the files will always leave people believing that whatever they release now, it's not everything and they are still covering their backs.
