Husband, dad, Freemason, late GenXer, Jewish, unapologetically antiracist and antifascist. Patriots and Red Sox fan. Will always worship The Rolling Stones no matter how old they get. If you DM me I’ll probably block you.

I’ll name three: Icheb, Hugh, and Ro Laren, all killed off in Star Trek: Picard for no reason except one very brief moment of cheap drama. None of their deaths advanced the plot in any meaningful way. Made me very angry.

Name a character who deserved better.

Well I’m glad you could find a way to make money off your party completing its journey into full blown fascism, a journey it began before you even ran for office and chose to be a part of them. Are you going to pretend to be outraged by their cuts to healthcare funding YOU VOTED AGAINST?

Massive thanks to Illinois State , WGLT and Dirksen center for hosting a screening last night of “The Last Republican” (available on YouTube now). Over 1300 people attended, and it was amazing to come home! Bloomington/Normal is the best! Courtesy WGLT for the picture

On this observance of Yom Kippur. May we (all) enter this new year carrying less resentment, less anger, and less weight from the past, and more love, compassion, and understanding.

This is how they talk to you when you’re a Jewish person who calls out wearing Jewface as antisemitic and have never said a word in support of Israel.

LOL so typical of this fraud. He spends his time in Congress voting against helping starving kids, then makes himself look like a hero for making a blog post about teenagers trying to fix the problems he and the rest of his party of psychopaths created.

Hey everyone, happy Sunday. Are you ready for some good news? In honor of September being Hunger Action Month, today I wrote on my Substack about two kids in South Florida who have made it their mission to innovate new ways to solve food insecurity in their communities. Link below!

Pet peeve: used book sellers who put price tag, barcode, or “Joe’s Secondhand Books” ad stickers on the books that can’t be removed without damaging the cover. Book sellers should never vandalize the books.

Trump manages to be America’s Hitler and America’s Chamberlain at the same time

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

For the first time in US history, America betrays South Korea, one of our closest allies for over 75 years. These exercises in various forms have taken place every year since 1974.

Inspired by the Negroni I mixed Campari, Wire Works Gin, and Polar Sparkling Grapefruit Dry (1:1:2) and I don’t know what to call it but it’s fantastic and very refreshing.

Ah yes your fond memories of the years you spent fighting side-by-side, blocking everything Obama ever tried to do to help your country and ushering in this national nightmare. You can follow him to hell.

Adam Kinzinger@adamkinzinger.substack.com

Lindsey Graham and I had a complicated relationship. 🧵 Before Trump, we were friends. We traveled together on congressional trips around the world, including visiting Syrian refugee camps where we met children whose lives had been shattered by war. (Cont..)

I think Mamdani’s proponents and opponents both make too big a deal out of him. I like him. I think he’s good for Democrats in New York. I think he’d be bad for them in some other parts of the country. And that’s fine. He knows to stay in his lane. He won’t be endorsing anyone in Iowa or Texas.

MeidasTouch@meidastouch.com

NEWS: In a stunning upset, Mamdani-backed Darializa Avila Chevalier will defeat five-term incumbent Adriano Espaillat in the NY-13 congressional primary. With victories by Lander, Valdez, and now Avila Chevalier, Mamdani went 3-for-3 with his endorsements in New York City's Democratic primaries.

This is such a perfect example of the antisemitism which is all over Bluesky and every other corner of the internet and at all points along the political spectrum.

Yes they can eliminate the filibuster and actually pass all their progressive legislation and let Republicans pass their own legislation and then answer to the voters for it. The filibuster stops Democrats from bringing progress and protects Republicans from the consequences of their own extremism.

“Is there anything Democrats can do to break free of a deeply polarized political system in which parties are constantly winning and then losing office as voters reflexively turn against those in power?” Thomas Edsall asks.

When John Fetterman’s campaign was faltering over concerns about his health, a lot of people helped pull him across the finish line. People who advocated for him, who DONATED MONEY to him, who volunteered for him, who voted for him. People who believed in him. He’s betrayed them all.

Last night, Bluesky nuked my account citing “illegal activity involving minors”. The offending content? Confronting someone for antisemitic comments. I’m here, so clearly my appeal succeeded. But this platform is a cesspool of antisemitism like the rest of social media. Moderators tolerate it.

Judge for yourself about this thread. It’s obvious Bluesky has an antisemitism problem.

He means that like all antisemites you hide like a coward behind coded language and innuendo.

“Sanders' office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.” Of course not, he’s incapable of acknowledging Black voters even exist. And Black voters see it. They view Sanders, his movement, and DSA as racist. Who could blame them? He can’t even put out a statement condemning the ruling.

Finally got around to making turkey stock with the bones leftover from Passover Seder dinner I’d been storing in the freezer. Still need to skim it but got about 3 quarts of LIQUID GOLD.

Listening to this Republican fraudster pretend he’s bothered by yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling after he voted against a ban on gerrymandering and claimed Democrats forced him to do it is revolting. Kinzinger helped cause this tyranny. And now he pretends to be a good guy.

The upside of getting fired by Trump is that you’re probably about to lose your status as the worst in history to ever hold that position

Guardian US@us.theguardian.com

Donald Trump has fired attorney general Pam Bondi, dismissing a loyalist who reshaped the justice department, but still failed to please a president fixated on prosecuting political enemies and frustrated with the politically explosive release of the Epstein files

You just KNOW Maher is working on some hot take about how anyone who criticizes him for accepting it are a bunch of hypocrites

Keith Olbermann@olbermann.bsky.social

Politico this morning: Bill Maher WILL accept the former Mark Twain Prize now appropriated by Trump Explanation: Maher is a desperate Quisling whore 🤷🏼‍♂️

Well I’d say it seems to have been a great career move for you. By the way, some of us still remember you voted against healthcare reform, voted against voting rights, voted against banning gerrymandering, and blamed Biden for Trump surrendering to the Taliban.

“How does it feel to be a pariah within your own party?” A question I’m still living with today because I refused to compromise my values. "The Last Republican" is available now for FREE on YouTube. Head to the link in my reply to watch.

So what happens next time when it’s real cops looking for a real missing child but someone lawfully refuses entry because they’re afraid it’s ICE? Real cops and their unions need to loudly condemn this or accept the public can’t trust them and shouldn’t cooperate with them.
