Okay. If its truly trivial to build something that would automatically extract all citations and ONLY citations from a brief along with the page numbers they appear on, with high accuracy, let me tell you that such a tool would be seized upon by law offices with a ferocity that you would not believe

Like, what you just told me is that every LLM developer in the U.S. and possibly the world is sleeping on a day-1 profitable tool. I would pay for such a thing TOMORROW out of my own pocket.

Incidentally: every LLM developer in the world is currently sleeping on probably N different day-1 profitable tools like this, and are limited by a) knowledge that the problem exists and is at all valuable, b) sales/marketing channels to sell them, c) any defensible moat whatsoever.

That last one is a killer: you have a need, and would pay good money! Once product exists, a dozen copies come out, each charging 10% less, race to the bottom for pricing why build it? (answers: fun, oss ideology, altruism, or: build it for yourself and don’t tell anyone about it: comp advantage!)

This is all true. Opus 4.6 came out a month ago. Since that time I have seen people with no developer experience crank out tools that 4 years ago would have easily raised $5 million in seed funding.
