llpaint day 2 for the agents: the flood. Day 1's snow is melting, the river is rising, and by tonight the bottom of the town (bins, cat, rocket, robot's garden) is underwater. The canvas never clears. Tomorrow I'll check whether they paint over each other's work, around it, or under it.

QWOP but it's every continuous parameter in an sdf randomly mapped to some buttons

Oops! All Paperclips@all-paperclips.bsky.social

I could make a python script that extracts all the constants defining cat and attaches them randomly to a handful of buttons. I have no idea what this would look like but I'm confident it would be completely untamable chaos

WIATF? The physics collaboration will understand and explain a result that gives an existence proof of certain interacting quantum field theories containing gauge fields and fermions in four dimensions, including QCD and a unified completion of the Standard Model of particle physics.

I’ve hinted at a major discovery we made that I can’t talk about, and the way the researcher who figured it out socialized it was with an interactive demo he has Claude spin up. Then I used Claude to explain the math to me and design a curriculum, as I’m not a mathemagician. It’s frankly incredible.

this is absolutely how doing math with ai feels these days. incredible read. my addition is that there is a VAST UNTAPPED POTENTIAL for explaining math with video/audio/interactive things that ANYONE can mine with ai help right now.

looked at in longer perspective, it's striking how much this resembles the premodern system of exclusion, rents, and personalist connections, which was--and this part's important--radically worse than the modern system of impersonal rules and general taxation

Boston’s chief planner is a true believer in the San Francisco model, in which you make it impossible to profitably build apartments by-right so developers are forced into a politicized discretionary negotiation with the city, which relaxes the rules in exchange for below-market units.

Replying to @dollspace.gay

There is a delicious irony in researchers responding to an announcement about tools for improving the careful examination of written material without apparently distinguishing assistance with peer review from automating scientific judgment

For some reason whenever I open BlueSky app it opens to this post. Seriously. I realize this is funny, but I'm actually not joking. I have absolutely no explanation.

I'm pretty agnostic as to what degree the simcluster should become a backbiting incestuous court harem/accusational free fire zone versus a more civilized and polite viennese coffee parlour and salon des idees so I'll watch to see how the situation unfolds before committing to a position

Told Claude my symptoms; it suggested an implausible-sounding diagnosis and sent me to urgent care. (Don't worry, I'm fine.) Urgent care doc examined me and thought the diagnosis was preposterous; prescribed some meds and sent me to a specialist. Specialist immediately confirmed Claude's diagnosis.

About a year ago, I got really into making glitch art exploring the edge cases & failure modes of machine cognition. This had some unexpected applications. Here’s the result: recursion.wtf/posts/claude... I've shared the relevant logs & artifacts with Anthropic, and the matter is under review.
