this is what nice languages like gleam are for tbh it's quite refreshing to work on fun projects while the other guy nobly spends an equivalent 500 man hours making javascript or python do something boring

I don't think I'd get very far with AI code if I didn't know how to write it myself. The majority of time, with or without AI, is debugging. This hasn't changed.

Just because takeout is faster doesn't invalidate home cooking 👀 I don't see writing code by hand ever going away fully even if it's less common. Annoying because every IDE I try recently is full of bugs because they're all focusing on AI development instead of editing experience now

I'm really thinking about switching to NeoVim! I keep finding that vs code just gets in the way, and Zed has too many quirks that I'm not a fan of. Not sure I have the time commitment to learn NeoVim properly though right now

Exactly! Visual Studio got very bad and in VS Code I find the "Ctrl+Arrow keys" navigation weird, because I land on a different spot than before if I switch from right to left. And I miss Ctrl+PgUp/Down for jumping to the top/bottom of the screen.
