There absolutely needs to be an international tribunal where all of the damning claims made in the documentary are cross-examined, and if confirmed, those responsible are brought to justice.

If they had stepped aside, someone else would have done it instead. Some of them almost seemed proud that they made it to the elite intelligence units.

If this is representative of liberal Tel Aviv, and based on other reporting that seems to be the case, we clearly have a major problem on our hands. How does one deal with a society that has been radicalised to such an extent? Slap on a few sanctions and kick them out of Eurovision?!

And yet, despite the occasional glimmer of self-reflection, the tone often verged on dismissive and unrepentant. They were just small cogs in a big machine, following orders (have they not heard of the Nuremberg trials?!) and generally eager to complete as many missions as they could.

It looked as though every mobile phone in Gaza could be turned into a spy microphone/camera and every phone call and text message was recorded and analysed. Photos taken by the victims themselves were used to pinpoint the exact balcony where they lived.

The military analysts interviewed in the documentary were brave enough to talk to journalists and presumably recognised at least to some extent the horrors of what they had done. Self-described upper middle class kids from modern and liberal-ish Tel Aviv who were not 'Arab haters'.

Those involved in the detailed planning of IDF operations allegedly knew the staggering numbers of innocent civilians who would be killed as a by-product of the operations.

In many cases they allegedly knew the victims' faces and listened to their voices during the planning stage, live as they were being killed and even afterwards if by any chance they managed to survive.

We can just post charts with no source now and get a load of engagement, very healthy for the state of discourse. Oh, and a bunch of Fauci's diaries were released on Oct 7th, which is a more likely explanation than this engagement farming garbage.

Mentions of "Fauci" on X have mostly vanished since the data centers in Russia were destroyed by Ukrainian bombs. SMITE!💥

Well, partly to blame is the Facebook culture of sharing images and screenshots without links to the source because posts with links get suppressed because Zuck doesn't want anyone ever to leave the toxic waste dump that is his platform, not even for a minute. (Musk's X is the same.)

Y’all, I hate to rain on the dead bot parade, but the Yandex data center destruction doesn’t seem to have significantly impacted social media bots. I made temporal graphs of X posts about AfD around the time of the attack and there’s no sign of a sudden dip or residual impact on that conversation.

In a cultural milestone comparable to the achievements of DeepBlue & AlphaGo, I can report that at today’s Times Crossword Comp for the first time an AI system called Darmok (using a combo of LLMs) finished faster than all we humans and would therefore have won

Theatre of the absurd! Trump announces US will buy diesel from russia even though he signed a law mandating sanctions for any country buying russian energy. Meanwhile russia actually has a diesel export ban because they can’t meet domestic demand.

And if it can't speed up Moore's Law, it probably won't cure cancer either (at say an order-of-magnitude faster pace than we've been curing it already). Soz. bsky.app/profile/0xcd...

Biological experiments are very slow, like some can take weeks or even longer, because life is slow 🤷‍♂️. Not ideal for an exponential explosion. (You can run lots of similar experiments in parallel, which speeds things up a bit.) Also very fiddly, would require advances in robotics to fully automate.

... is not significantly more difficult than going from International Maths Olympiad level to where we are now, which took what, a year or two?

Having said that, I'm not particularly concerned about things going 'foom' in the near future. The real test is whether this is enough to make Moore's Law speed up, and to be honest, I don't think it is. bsky.app/profile/0xcd...

Grid power doesn't take off overnight and transistors won't magically get smaller because there's a lot very hard physics involved, and sadly that still involves a lot experimentation in the physical world, ie painfully slow.

I mean, yes, for the time being it can't produce crispy clear papers explaining the proofs. It can't write books full of beautiful and powerful new theories. But my guess would be that to go from Quasi-Riemann to making human mathematicians completely obsolete ...

Setting aside any irony in case there is anyone out there who takes my posts seriously, these OpenAI proofs are probably correct and not plagiarized in any normal sense of the word and highly consequential

This site has a massive problem - this is the *only* mention I have seen of SpaceX getting Spaceship to orbit. It's an important technological achievement that should have been front page news.
