This is not good

This is really bad. The New York Times reports that FBI managers were told the bureau will stop investigating violent confrontations involving immigration agents, handing those cases instead to an arm of ICE. In other words, letting the agency investigate itself.

I'm never going to get over the fact that the president of the United States paid a woman more than $5 million after a jury found him liable for raping her. And he's still president. And people still support him. Never. Get. Over. It.

On Monday, Joan Sebastian Guerrero was shot and killed by ICE agents in Biddeford, Maine. Reports say Guerrero was authorized to legally work in the US and not even ICE's target. @annayeo.bsky.social was on the ground Tuesday in Biddeford and spoke with locals—including one man who knew Guerrero.

I completely understand 1930-40s Germany now.

The reason why ICE agents continue to shoot people is because nothing ever happens to them when they do. They essentially have been granted full immunity for whatever they choose to do to people by a lawless regime of thugs.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

ICE could kill your family for no reason and then Trump, ICE and Fox News would blame your family for getting in the way of their bullets.

The ICE murder of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo deserves the same fury as Renee Good and Alex Pretti

ICE is not about immigration. ICE is not about the southern border. ICE is about normalizing paramilitary force on our streets. It cannot be reformed. It cannot be retrained. ICE must be abolished.

Well here's an idea.

Whenever someone labels someone an “extremist” on the left as equivocal with the right, I am reminded of this quote from MLK Jr.’s Letter from Birmingham Jail

You can't simply dismiss everyone who disagrees by identifying some secret motive, or by lumping them in with some evil group who can be ignored. You actually have to learn to make your case, on the substance, with evidence. We need to re-learn persuasion.
