My new book, Co-Existence, is out today. It is a guide to how to live and work in a world where AI is sometimes, but not always, better than you. (And, for the release, I worked with Opus 5.5 to make a quite interesting experience for the book's new website: co-existence.ai)

at the risk of hypocrisy, just want to say that almost never posting (just retweets and replies) for awhile has fundamentally reset my feelings about social media, what it's capable of, what it's for, how the medium itself both embiggens and besmalls us all. will say more sometime in the future

This article quotes a sociology professor, a lawyer, and an architect who reject the notion that housing prices are set by supply and demand and do not believe that building more homes reduces rents. It is the housing policy equivalent of platforming climate change deniers.

it's been about a week and a half since I posted anything to main and it's been cleansing and informative I have been forced to conclude that for me, personally, social media is not great for my mental health & if the dose makes the poison, not posting is what it takes to get the dose right

I think I might try just being a benevolent reply guy going forward (if that) This is not prescriptive in any way, btw. It's like me observing that I don't do well on gluten but it's fine for most people.

To underscore why this is especially awful for those who may not know, the measles vaccine is usually given at 12 months. Newborns rely on community immunity to prevent exposure, which until recently we have had in the US. This quite literally could be anyone's newborn. None of this had to happen.
