I have a package being delivered from Japan that got caught up in Japan Post cancelling their US shipping. It's finally on the way, but the new shipper's website forgot to account for the timezone difference and the package tracking made it look like it was shipped BACK to Narita from LA.

So I mentioned I might be getting a new microphone? Uhh yep, new microphone! I don't think the quality is honestly anything to write home about, but it is 1000% easier to maneuver and work around and even with my windows open AND fan on there was hardly any background noise!

Also, the quality essentially sounds about the same as my old microphone (at least I think so- I haven't listened to my sample OBS recordings with my good headphones on, but considering half of my viewers put my stream on to fall asleep it's probably FINE.)

It does sound pretty muffled pinned to my shirt, so I don't think I'll use it as an actual lav mic, and will instead just have it on a little stand or attach it to my mic arm (laying flat on my pop filter like my camera was in the old days of my original cursed handcam setup)

To OBS-knowers, just getting my voice into the yellow part of the bar was a fight, and that means my bed music has to be super low and whatever I'm doing also has to be super low, then that means that when an ad plays it blows everyone's eardrums out.

So: I'm trying something stupid. If it works then it won't be stupid and if it doesn't work then I can find another use for it! I got a set of DJI Mic Minis (aka that one little DJI mic that everyone uses for street interviews) and while the quality isn't amazing, the flexibility is extremely nice

Previously I was using a 15 year old Blue Snowball which had great audio quality but the cable and internal contacts were well past their prime. I replaced the cable but it still doesn't show up as an available device half the time- also it's damn big, and hard to position!

When I'm streaming something normal it's fine, but it's hard to get into a position that works for gunpla streaming since my head tends to be facing down, and I already talk kinda quietly so boosting myself to be audible also screwed up my audio quality and made the background noise worse.

OH. I just realized next week is the 2nd anniversary of getting my first pngtuber delivered... I'd used my twitch a few times before that, but I really consider getting my little dude to be the start of actually putting *some* effort into streaming and finding a bunch of new communities as a result!

I honestly consider myself a fan first and a streamer second (maybe third or fourth actually) and I always enjoy making dumb shit for streamers I like as a way to learn and practice new skills. I'm a little bummed to have slowed down on that front, but hey life's been busy this year!

Upcoming stream plans! I’ve been kicking around the idea of remaking my “am I able to be normal about this vtuber” tierlist from last year and doing it as a drinking stream! It’s a fun chance to talk about creators I like and why!

The first time I did it I included too many, and talked about them all too long. It felt bad leaving anyone out, but for some I just didn’t have much to say which ALSO felt bad. A real lose-lose. It was also probably my first just chatting stream so there was no chat which… yeah.

The OTHER issue: that stream was recorded the DAY that ironmouse dropped her video about vshojo disappearing her subathon donations to the immunodefense fund, so stuff was changing extremely fast and a lot of it was out of date even as I was saying it.
