It's not easy to succeed in bringing a U.S. defamation case but that doesn't NOT sound like "reckless disregard for the truth."

Vandal always seems vaguely apologetic that there's too much of some of him. More neck than usual. Tail too long by a few lengths. He's always trying to tuck everything neatly so it won't be noticed.

Been thinking about restarting Twitch streaming with the rule that, if a cat wants attention, we have to stop playing the game and pet the cat.

"Money doesn't matter to me" is one of those things you can say with a straight face if someone else is always providing you with all your money.

If nothing else, two fun facts you might not already know: (1) The Tragedy of The Commons is a specific, essentially wrong paper by a guy who turns out to suck, and (2) exploitative scholarly publishing is basically traceable to one guy, Robert Maxwell, father of Ghislaine.

I don't consider myself a "trans activist" by any means, but those are my actual real-life friends, so yeah, if you're not taking a hard line on it as a politician, fuck off imo.

This isn't a shot at the podcast or even political horse-race reporting. What's happening in the world of campaign staff and fundraising is newsworthy and Dave Weigel seems like the perfect mutant* to cover the beat. *I mean this affectionately. ** ** Probably mostly affectionately.

www.gamespot.com/articles/sta... man the first big freelance job I got after the dot com crash was for a KOTOR walkthrough for GameSpot. Took me 12 days to write 60,000 words, just spent all day doing it. BioWare was a seminal studio and it's insane to think they're not going to be around anymore

gamespot.comStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic WalkthroughIn the following pages, you will find an insanely detailed walkthrough, covering all of the main and optional quests on each of the game's seven massive planet…

Not just papering over a crisis of trust, papering over decades of neoliberal rot. The idea that AI can become civic tech without a massive, generational investment in civic infrastructure is just more scam politics.

Justin Hendrix@justinhendrix.bsky.social

Governments are deploying AI chatbots to paper over a crisis of trust that can only be solved through listening to local communities, argues Eric Gordon from the Center for Media Innovation & Social Impact at Boston University.

"I don't think you should be allowed to buy cornrow braids for Dylan. I don't think that's allowed." -sentences that cause the rest of the discord voice chat to say "Oh no."

I saw You Can See Everything over the weekend and I was like "Matt, do NOT talk about this movie at work." Well, guess what the first thing I did was.

The new tech lead for my project hasn't really heard of Elizabeth Holmes but he does think Enron was an example of prosecutorial overreach where the government was just looking to make an example of someone, so he figured it was a similar situation.

Oh, I got that special $ character.

there is a kind of collective suicidal exhaustion in the 70+ crowd as though the unspoken wish is to beat the end of civilization by being entombed alive with their family and possessions to all die together, the friction of living finally at an end, suburban pharoahood culminated

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

something that occurred to me is, everyone knows it’s possible to become a musician with work and practice. but you can’t work on and practice music while staring slackjawed at your phone. the real promise of generative AI is the ability to ‘make’ ‘art’ without reducing your slackjawed scroll time

Dozens of masked settlers attacked Palestinian villagers and savagely beat a Washington Post photographer today. "Israeli troops arrived shortly before the attack, which seemed to embolden the settlers. Soldiers fired tear gas at Palestinians and 'did absolutely nothing about the settlers.'"

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers on Friday, setting olive groves on fire and slinging rocks. Caught in the attack was Post photographer Heidi Levine. “They just kept kicking me and kicking me, like probably 50 times,” Levine said. https://wapo.st/4yt6dHY

AI is conscious AND it is my girlfriend AND it is my slave. A perfect scenario for me, a normal person. Not gonna think too deeply about this. Now do all other living human people deserve the level of investment devoted to my Tamogotchi slave girlfriend? Not so fast.
