Our planet is heating faster than at any time in the geological record. That's terrifying. But here's the hopeful part: most of us are worried and want action — we just stay silent, assuming no one else cares. 7 in 10 people rarely or never talk about it. So the silence feeds itself

1. "ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT" Labour ministers enact the scene from the "Zone of Interest" where they pick over the possessions of the dead and the soon to be dead - referring to them with the most obscene euphemism: "environmental impact".

HOW MANY MORE WARNINGS DO WE NEED?

If this death toll was the result of a terrorist attack, the world would be up in arms And remember, this is not the new normal From the perspective of 2100, or even 2050, the summer of 2026 will be one of the coolest www.theguardian.com/environment/...

And so the cycle continues, as unlivable heatwaves, crop failure, empty supermarket shelves, starvation, collapse of public services, destruction of homes and mass displacement are a price worth paying for economic growth. THERE ARE NO WORDS. actionnetwork.org/events/octob...

New paper by the World’s most prominent climate scientists shows rapid acceleration of human-caused warming, with a warming rate now that tracks to near 2.4°C by 2050, far faster than was expected, if it continues…

With the planet now heating at 0.4C a decade, the idea the world will be just 2.7C hotter by 2100 is pure fantasy Like 1.5C before it, the 2.7C figure is being used to massively underestimate the dire straits we are in, and to play down the desperate need for action NOW

1. IMAGINATION Revolution is a function of prophecy - what ought to be becomes what is. Defeatism is a function of analysis - what is becomes what ought to be. Before the French revolution there had been no major revolt in France for over a 100 years.

1. Two x Nepal disasters a week for 30 years. So in addition to droughts heat waves storms and all the rest of it - we now have “3,100 surging glaciers.”

"What it actually means is three things: war, social breakdown, and starvation." The British insurance industry predicts 4 billion people could die by the end of the century if global temperatures continue to rise at their current rate.

Deforestation is not development. It turns carbon sinks into carbon sources, wipes out gorillas and forest elephants, and helps dry out the farms downstream. In 2025, non-fire primary forest loss in the DRC hit a record.

This is hardly surprising - the Ivory Tower mentality is often as much or even greater an impediment to action than outright denial. To hear what can be done, join 4 Billion Dead's public call with Roger Hallam and Ruth Cerezo Mota, 21st October, 7pm BST: actionnetwork.org/events/octob...

I’ve argued that this El Niño event is likely the most deviant climate event we’ve witnessed. A magnitude I don’t think any climate scientist could have foreseen a year ago, even given our rapidly warming climate. Perhaps a Grey Swan event?
