the only way i could see a company managing to pull this off way back then is if they were being directly supported by the government. which lowkey would be a fire idea, like; fnaf happens and now the gov't wants to know how to do that but controlled for war purposes so they bribe a toy company.

like baatm progression made sense because world-wise: the studio isn't a studio but rather a constantly looping pocket dimension ruled by the ink demon thematically: the main antagonist is a demon and you're descending deeper into his world, you are descending into hell.

but like the gameplay n structure of most popular mascot horror franchises nowadays feels like "bendy but [insert gimmick here] and you can't fight back" to me hell, the most popular one does the "the complex just goes deeper and deeper" thing but less cool and with no proper explanation.
