Embroidery artist Kumi Kosuge also did a bunch of dog-themed embroideries for this issue, which were turned into stickers. People in the United States can find Brutus and other Japanese publications at Kinokuniya (look on their website to see if there's a location near you)

Avery Trufelman and I recently recorded a pod on Voltaire's 1736 poem "Man of the World," where he spiritedly defends cosmopolitanism against the conservatives of his day. Hard to do this without sound like a chauvinist, but his wit makes it delightful. articlesofinterest.substack.com/podcast

i do unironically think people that are cosmopolitan need sorta paradoxically be more chauvinist about it tbh. places and people that are cosmopolitan in outlook are better than places that are provincially minded. the kind of performative handwringing about not being 'authentic' is bad and weak.

appears that hegseth impulsively blurted this out to look tough, but had not discussed it with others prior, causing admin to scramble. he did not think through the consequences of livestreaming. these do not seem like good qualities for someone making war-related decisions.

Breaking news: Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will not be executed on a live-stream, President Trump said. “Many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die,” Trump said.

Recorded a podcast with Ryan Devans of Tailors' Keep. We talked about how Asian manufacturing nowadays is often better than US manufacturing. This pissed off a bunch of people on Instagram, but I think shoring up US manufacturing requires facing hard facts. Pod preview: pod.link/blamo/episod...
