Post this at anyone who says words can't be violence: "... an announcement of the final stages of our decades-long passage into the Information Age, a paradigm shift that the classic liberal firewall between word and deed (itself a product of the ... Enlightenment) is not likely to survive intact."
Tired of all this modern discourse? Please enjoy some vintage discourse from 1992 (cn for sexual assault) that raises a lot of questions that are still extremely relevant. This piece is a classic of internet history. http://www.juliandibbell.com/articles/a-rape-in-cyberspace/

because nobody seems to know how to message things for normal people, let me take a stab: when apple buys ads on twitter, they are funding actual nazis.
Twitter announced that it would begin sharing ad revenue with content creators on its platform for the first time. The first beneficiaries appear to be high-profile far-right influencers who tweeted before the announcement how much theyβve earned as part of the program. https://wapo.st/44LDTC2
It's the pinnacle of libertarian "you are what you own" shitheelism that the devs, high on their "usernames are domain names" supply, thought it was more important to block names that look like phishing than names that contain actual abuse
i am just catching up on this but it seems pretty bad (and outright deluded) to launch a social network without explicitly blocking people from using the most well-known racial slur in the english language as a username

no scoreboard yet, but the feed is here: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:vwzwgnygau7ed7b7wt5ux7y2/feed/teams
Silly custom feed idea: assign a random "team" to each user, as a function of their user ID. Each user only sees the other posts from their teammates in the feed. A scoreboard tracks total likes for each team.

this interview is FASCINATING and very cute! "When people ask me: βWhy are you into floppy disks today?β the answer is: βBecause I forgot to get out of the business.β" https://eyeondesign.aiga.org/we-spoke-with-the-last-person-standing-in-the-floppy-disk-business/
"average person is ya boi tarantula dick" factoid actualy just statistical error. average boi has tarantula hairy balls at best. Tarantulas Georg, who lives in cave & fuckz over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
Bluesky is for people who are terminally online in the βitβs ya boy tarantula dickβ sort of way while Threads is for people who are terminally online in the βeverything in my life is Contentβ sort of way
how many of these users and dollars were journalists earnestly trying to give it a fair shake for their reporting
This is absolutely hilarious to me. They pushed it so hard because they needed it to catch on, not because it was actually catching on at all $470 made GLOBALLY ππ https://www.thenation.com/article/culture/metaverse-zuckerberg-pr-hype/

To be clear: fuck the hive dot ai and all other companies similar to it. But also, they're not stealing the images submitted for labeling and using them for training. a) that's not what their policy lets them do b) that's a very stupid way to get training data c) they can scrape them for free anyway
so many people posting bad takes about the hive dot ai privacy policy and TOS. I will not be nerd-sniped. I will not be nerd-sniped. I will not be nerd-sniped.
yep there it is: https://bsky.app/profile/marcomaps.bsky.social/post/3jznenry54i2a
@bluesky Support team contacted me with a response following the claim the platform used third-party services to train A/I softwares. 1/something
