Brazilians recommending not to amplify right-wing talking points by dunking and quoting, as a winning strategy Next day, my tl is full of people dunking on rfk jr I literally would not have seen the bigotry if it wasn't for y'all repeating it. That's exactly what the Brazilians were on about!

was sat in a quiet pub enjoying hearing a man & woman talking about comics they love -- Wicked + the Divine! Saga! Love & Rockets! -- & then heard them bring up Sandman & the guy said "I'm so glad the sexual assault allegations against him were dropped" which is wildly incorrect

Missed this colossal anniversary yesterday and have been wondering what time even is all morning. 50 years? FIFTY?

Dave Owen@wavenode.bsky.social

Tonight, it will be exactly fifty years since the most effortlessly beautiful fictional friendship of my TV childhood suddenly ended. I loved them SO MUCH.

Which also means that 2027 will mark the 50th anniversary of Leela (1st January actually), which I note here for a very particular reason relating to something I just finished and emailed out, and you ain't seen nothing, right?

I love Celebrity Traitors. They should do tie-in novels - OR! A series *novelisation*, written as though the entire thing is real. Oh man, I’d write the hell out of that.

Yes! Finally! Other people have read Revival, amazing. Revival is the only @stephenking.bsky.social that has ever scared me. The ending is so incredibly bleak I had to re-read the last quarter of the book twice to make sure I had understood what I thought I had understood.

Editing a fun IP thing that will be out next year for which I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to do and… actually it came out pretty good? Phew! Also: fun times. 🥷👀😁

Okay Whonerds like @eddierobson.bsky.social @andreworton.bsky.social and others: when did the Fourth Doctor start wearing buccaneer boots? Is it The Invasion of Time? Seems to be shoes right up until then, unless I've missed something?

My podcast started last year, and I didn't read tie-ins and didn't consider doing a whole season on them - ahem, wherever you get your podcasts! However, covering an original trilogy by @adamchristopher.me and his tie-in work opened up a world of so many genres, and my lovely tie-in season was born.

Terrance Dicks' Doctor Who novelisations are the reason so many people my age fell in love with reading. Tie in books create life long readers and they are written by incredible authors who capture and expand on the stories that we know.

Terrance Dicks is why I am an author. One of the greatest small moments of my life was when he passed a good luck message on to me, via @paulcornell.bsky.social, at the launch of my debut novel Empire State at Forbidden Planet London back in 2012.

Great thread. Also, writing for something that you love is honestly amazing. I’ve created real, canonical Star Wars? I named (and effectively created) Rey’s parents? And became a New York Times Bestseller? Holy crackers, never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that happening.

There is a doofus currently arguing here that no "creative talent" would choose to write tie-ins, and since I just did a panel this weekend on why creative talents choose to write IP, here are a few reasons. Non-financial reasons, for fun and because frankly it usually doesn't pay that well.

ふわふわ helped me get through archery tonight with a sore shoulder from my recovering injury. Seriously, I focussed on the word as I drew and it helped me focus on my form. I think a lot of situations in life could be improved by a little ふわふわ.

OK the best Japanese word is ふわふわ (fuwafuwa, which can be an adjective meaning fluffy, or an adverb meaning lightly or buoyantly floating). Looks absolutely badass in katakana as フワフワ.

Alison says it all. Radio 4 Extra wasn’t an apocryphal service for superannuated listeners. It was a cultural resource and a reminder of a braver, expertly curated BBC.

Alison@alisondennison.bsky.social

I'll miss Radio 4extra. I don't think its listeners will transfer to seeking the same stuff out on BBC Sounds. That's not how it works. The station introduces listeners to stuff. And I'm using the plural because individual algorithms are a lonely replacement. I don't want to be a listener (singular)

When I ran a crowdfunding project for ‘Who Killed Nessie?’ I posted on social media every hour on the hour, and the day after it ended had someone say ‘I had no idea! I would have backed that!’

With apologies to everyone I know who makes a podcast but I miss the days when podcasts were podcasts and not recordings of some kind of livestream or audio of some kind of video. If you are still doing it the classic way, I salute you. Everyone else, I’m tired and unsubscribing.

That thing where you find an actual map of where you are in Geoguessr, and you still… don’t know where you are. (I mean I got France, obviously, but my knowledge of French national forests is sorely lacking).
