Bizarre things that happened in your assembly: Our very serious headmaster spoke one day about how amazing technology around us was. He highlighted the flexibility of cassette tapes, holding one up, before unexpectedly destroying it with a hammer. Turns out he really wanted to talk about vandalism.

This seemed at the time a very odd way to introduce this topic, but to be fair, I do still remember it some 40-something years later, so I can't deny that it was effective.

@daveholmes.bsky.social Hey Dave, just wanted to drop you a quick message to let you know how much I enjoyed listening to Who Killed The Video Star: The Story of MTV. I was a huge MTV fan back in the 90s, though living in the UK I was tuning into MTV Europe, which was definitely a little different!

Though I hadn't watched it for many years, I was genuinely sad when MTV switched off their UK music channels at the end of 2025, leaving just their main MTV "reality" channel, which I don't think I would watch if I was paid to do so. Clearly the magic left MTV a long time ago, but the nostalgia is >

strong and will stay with me, and I'm sure many others, for as long as we're around. Even though your MTV and mine were a little different, your podcast still brought back many great memories, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. 💖 And up next: MTV News, followed by MTV Unplugged. 🎶📺🎵

You can get quite a good view of the eclipse by just making a circle with your fingers if you hold it in just the right place. #eclipse #eclipse2026

@dmullinsgames.bsky.social I just finished playing Inscryption and just wanted to say "Bravo", what a wonderful game, which exceeded and twisted my expectations repeatedly. It joins a short list of games for which I wish I could erase my memory in order to experience them again from the start.

Has anyone else had any problems activating an export tariff with Octopus? I've tried four times now and every time I've had an email back stating that there was a problem. It's frustrating continuing to watch all my excess power being given away to the grid for free. @octopus.energy #solar #octopus

Their customer service people have been helpful on the phone but no one really seems to give me a decent reason why it's failing. Today I was told I have to wait until Friday before they'll try again. This has been ongoing for nearly two weeks now.

My solar panels have now passed 1MWh of generated power since I had them installed just over a month ago. The equivalent (according to the app) of 480kg of CO2 saved, or 400kg of coal. I'm so impressed with them. ☀️⚡🔋

My new solar panels were connected up today. I find it completely magical to think that my whole house is literally powered by this afternoon's sunshine. ☀️ Battery charged fully despite a cloudy day and only getting connected after lunchtime. I'm excited to see performance in the coming days. #solar

WordsUp is coming back! I had to withdraw my popular tile-stacking game ten years ago as it broke on modern versions of Windows, but finally I'm working on getting this up and running again. Coming soon for Windows, Linux and maybe Android. Follow for updates. #indiegame #gamedev #screenshotsaturday

I tried out the new Alexa+. Had a twenty minute argument with it about the existence of one of my smart lights. Went back to classic Alexa. Maybe it'll improve over time...

I dug out one of my old Windows Phones today. It's still working fine, but I can't get over how TEENY TINY it is. Here's a picture of it next to my current Samsung Galaxy S25. This size felt normal back then! It also still seems to think it's 2014, which is when I last used it. Aww... #WindowsPhone

I just watched The Life of Chuck on #Netflix. What a superb piece of work, enjoyable, enthralling, memorable and quite unexpected. I have adored every single thing I've seen from @mikeflanaganfilm.com and this certainly didn't disappoint!

Oh my goodness Starfleet Academy is so good. It has hugely exceeded any expectations I had of it, this week's episode (The Life of the Stars) is a masterpiece. #StarTrek #StarfleetAcademy

I'm watching multi-hour clips of #MTV Europe from back in the #90s today and feeling super nostalgic about it. The channel and its presenters were so awesome back then, I miss it so much 🥹

😭 Though clearly #MTV was a shadow of its former self, it has long had a place in my heart. I remember the MTV Europe VJs, Ray Cokes, Simone Angel, Marijne van der Vlugt, endless amazing music, the cool logo animations. It was the soundtrack of the #90s for me. So long, MTV, gone but not forgotten ♥️

I blinked and he's written another 14...<touches ear piece> wait, I hear these have been out a while Go get them all anyway. Before @aptshadow.bsky.social finishes another two...

@aptshadow.bsky.social Hello, I'm currently reading and very much enjoying Shroud. In chapter 4.8 you reference a mining accident. Is this a reference to a true event, and if so, are you able to provide a little more information please? I'm curious to learn more about it. Thank you!

It's a spooOOooky night, and if you feel like spending your evening being chased around by ghosts, then why not give my Pac-Mania remake a try? Can you reach, and survive, the haunted library? 👻 Download Pac-Zania free for Windows and Linux: adamdawes.com/games/pac-za... #gamedev #indiegame #retro

@helenzaltzman.bsky.social I just finished listening to Allusionist 110, about gravestone epitaphs. Very interesting listen. I got to thinking about what I might like mine to be, and realised I would use my social media profile text. We all have our own little living epitaphs on our profiles. 🤔

Pac-Zania v1.1.0 is available now. This update has a number of changes and fixes, the biggest being the new level select feature: you can now start each new game from any level you've previously reached. Download FREE for Windows or Linux from my website at adamdawes.com #indiegame #gamedev #retro

If the first season of the TV adaptation of The Last of Us had been based on my playthrough of the game, it would have been 50 hours long and primarily based around watching Joel meticulously comb every room he finds on the offchance there may be a piece of hidden collectible rag or a spare bullet.

I'm getting veeeery close to finishing Pac-Zania now and starting to prepare it for release. It's taken a lot longer than I expected but hopefully you'll all enjoy it - more details soon... 🍒 👻
