I can finally, officially say I Am the Voice of Mystery in #MysterySkullsAnimated I have been a fan of this series since Freaking Out! It is such a HUGE honor to be part of this incredible story. I truly hope you all enjoy the finale! ⁉️💓❓

My grandmother passed a few hours ago. She was absolute hell for a lot of people, an absolute hilarious, inappropriate spitfire, and yet deeply sweet to me. I’m grateful she passed peacefully without prolonged suffering. I love you Nanny Jane. Be at peace now.

Just wanted to give a little update on myself! I’ve been feeling great since the autism discovery but have also noticed something and wondered if this is common for people who go through the same experience. My motivation has been shot. 😂 I’m good! I’m healthy! I still have hopes and dreams!

However, whatever drive or fire I’ve had in me that pushed me forward in my goals in life has been silent. I’ve purely been existing, in a positive way. I’ve stopped to smell the roses and I’ve stayed there. I don’t know if this is permanent or if I’ll eventually get my ambition back!

I still report to work, love acting, do what needs to be done to live… but for once my mind is not stuck on making it in my acting career or achieving something more. But man, lately I’ve only cared about having fun with my wife, my cats, enjoying my hobbies and eating yummy food.

Remembered a radio ad I’ve never been able to find. It was Foreigner’s Hot Blooded but with a deadpan voice dubbing over the hot parts with cold parts, probably for a drink or ice cream. It went “CAUSE I’M (cold) BLOODED, CHECK IT AND SEE. I’VE GOT A FEVER OF (like… 32 degrees).”

As a reminder: The polls made it sound like Hillary & Kamala were going to win. I know midterms aren't the same, but goddamnit please make sure you're registered to vote & make a plan. With the shit they might try to pull, we may need a super-dee-dupermajority to overcome their thumb on the scale.

Man, ain’t that just the question right after learning I’m on the spectrum. For me, it was 3rd grade. Before that I belonged to a large group of friends! Then I changed schools & nobody wanted anything to do with me. I was avoided like the plague. Didn’t make a real friend again until 5th grade!

QUESTION OF THE DAY: This sounds like a joke question, but it isn’t. If it doesn’t apply to you, fine. But it’s a serious question with different levels of meaning. And I am genuinely curious. When did you first realize you were weird?

I voice frustrated lord Chad in ‘As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World’ on Crunchyroll! I’m grateful to be cast, but feel I was treated rudely recording this show. The distress of this experience lead to my autism diagnosis, so there’s that. 🤷‍♂️

As a kid I had a bunch of Star Wars toys I loved. I had not seen the movies and had none of the main characters, just all the weirdos!

I have zero tolerance for anyone who claims to be passionate about racial, gender, lgbtqia+ justice but then openly says awful things about other people’s attractiveness, weight, clothes or health problems.

In my current D&D game, my goblin bard has been riding on the shoulders of a tall satyr babe (pretty sweet, right?) as they navigate swampy terrain. The moment he hops off of her, he gets swallowed by a giant frog. 🐸

Today I recorded my final session for You and I Are Polar Opposites! I voiced the delightfully dead inside Home Room Teacher & the much more lively Hasegawa! Directors Emily Fajardo & Dani Chambers & my engineers were all wonderful! This show may have saved me & I’ll tell ya why.

I have never aimed to be difficult or unprofessional, and yet I feel some directors have deemed me such. We’ll see if this information getting out changes how I’m treated, but generally I have found voice acting professionals are less open minded & progressive than they want you to think they are.

Voice actors care far less about their actual character than how the public perceives their character. Regardless of it all, I’m looking forward to doing what is best for me now, in whatever weird, unconventional form it takes. Thank you, Home Room Teacher, for being the cautionary tale I needed.

For the uninitiated, it is when an autistic person expends too much energy masking & exposing themselves to overwhelming stimuli. The nervous system gets overloaded & it takes its toll on the mind & body. It’s been educational. I’m learning what generally tolerable things are exhausting for me.

I do not know yet if revealing I am autistic will help or hinder my acting career. I feel my bad experiences came from directors who refused to communicate directly. Who gave vague or no direction. Who would not meet me halfway. Who had no spirit of collaboration. Who wanted their minds read.

Then a friend on the spectrum suggested I may be masking. I didn’t think so, but then I tried stopping. Holy cow. It changed my world. I did not realize how much energy I was putting into to presenting myself in a way that felt acceptable to the world, yet still being rejected anyway.

It’s been around four weeks since I made the discovery. I’ve consciously stopped masking this entire time & feel the best I have in so long. My body & voice have bounced back tremendously! It is looking highly likely that I am on the spectrum & was experiencing autistic burnout.

I figured it was a number of things, so I addressed them individually, but nothing really changed longterm. I wondered if I was falling out of love with acting, if the stress of pursuing it was hurting my health. To be frank, I also genuinely feel I was mistreated by certain directors.

This all came to a head fairly recently. I was feeling the most overwhelmed, drained, frustrated I’ve ever been. Despite my hard work, despite trying to be kind and respectful, why couldn’t I get further in my career? Why did it seem like nobody accepted me or wanted me here? What more must I do?!

About a year ago I realized something was wrong. I felt terrible - achy, exhausted, stressed, burnt out - all the bad stuff despite actively improving my health and getting in better shape! My voice was weak, my throat was chronically dry & scratchy & it affected my work & stressed me out further.

Then I was cast as the teacher in Polar Opposites and I was happy to say I killed the role! I was such a natural fit! Oh no… I was a natural fit for this exhausted, dead inside human being. Sure, it was played for laughs, but I could not ignore that I fit him so well because I was becoming him.
