Do you use Adobe InDesign? Make sure you turn Generative AI off, it defaults to on. You'll need to check to see if it's been turned back on every time you update the app.

Add to the list of D&D analogs for use in TV and movies: A&D, Angels & Demons, from Simon & Simon, 1981. Smack in the middle of the AD&D age.

This response thread has some context that is important about what I just posted. Doesn't make it any LESS fucked up but it's part of the story.

I think contextually it is important that Niantic Games was sold off and acquired by Scopely who are owned by Savvy Games which is an investment branch of the Saudi Arabian government. This was a strategic investment to get access to the data by a foreign government with no ethical concerns.

This is super fucked up!

This might be one of the most insane scandals in game history When Pokemon Go players scan PokeStops, theyve been unknowingly building a detailed visual model of the world which is being sold to a military contractor to build a no-GPS positioning for the new generation of unmanned killing machines

LMAO Reed pop just increased the price of NYCC Pro badges by $40. $180 all-in for a pro badge SDCC? Remains FREE for professionals. Reed Pop is a garbage profit guzzling greedy corportation and that is that.

I have a longer thing I'm working on about this, with more data and stuff, but the key thing folks need to know: anyone on the left *CANNOT WIN* with any kind of content on platforms where the right owns the algorithm. Not just in politics — in entertainment media, or anything else.

I've worked in Democratic digital comms for a long time and pay attention to campaign metrics across platforms. Increasingly I'm seeing Dems who crosspost on X, Bluesky, and Threads get better engagement on Bluesky even with far fewer followers. Here's @jamestalarico.bsky.social's clip last night:

I was today years old when I realized that Rapid Roy (that stock car boy)'s tattoo read "Hey Baby". It was not two separate tattoos, one that said "Baby" and another one that just said "Hey". Roy, had some real BDE. #JimCroce

I'm in Lisbon armed with the most important phrase: posso fazer festas? Literally it means "may I throw a party?", colloquially it means "can I pet your dog?"

I have always said it, I will continue to say it, we are limiting the productive potential of millions of freaks by demanding they earn a wage to survive instead of enabling them to do whatever thing their brain is broken for

The cartoon that appeared this week on the front page of France’s most influential national newspaper, Le Monde Brilliant work by the cartoonist, Guffo.

I just spotted Madeleine Sami playing Tyro the Amazon in an episode of Xena Warrior Princess! She made one of my favorite movies, The Breaker Upperers, with Jackie van Beek and is extremely funny (not as an Amazon though, she is taking that role seriously).

I'm super lucky to have access to a lot of very good library systems. Sometimes there are shenanigans involved in getting cards for those systems. I justify it by using all of them as frequently as possible to increase their patron and use stats hopefully leading to more local support and tax money.

Fuck off, Monday . com! I don't want to read about "How to beat AI guilt" in your "Insights" newsletter. Thanks anyway, I'd prefer not use a technology that is destroying our planet and stealing art and turning it into garbage.

Finished in September: 🎧 Private Rites by Julia Armfield read by Hannah van der Westhuysen. A dismal, disqueiting, and apocalyptic novel loosely based on King Lear. Highly recommend. #QueerBooks

Finished in September: 🎧 Looking for Smoke by K. A. Cobell (Blackfeet) read by Julie Lumsden, Katie Anvil Rich, Shaun Taylor-Corbett, and Jordan Waunch. Thriller told in the voices of four teens. I cried multiple times listening to it. I'm looking forward to whatever Cobell writes next.

Finished in September: 🎧 One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston read by Natalie Naudus. Slightly less steamy than The Pairing, this paranormal-light romance was sweet and satisfying. #QueerBooks

Finished in September: 🎧 Exhalation by Ted Chiang read by Edoardo Ballerini, Dominic Hoffman, Amy Landon, Ted Chiang. I didn't know that Chiang wrote Arrival until after I finished this collection of short stories. He's an amazing writer with novel takes on the meaning of being human. #QueerBooks

Finished in August: 🎧 Guilt by Association by Gregory Ashe read by Tristan James. I'm still hooked on these despite the painful internalized homophobia of the main characters (and the externalized homophobia of Wahredua, Missouri). #QueerBooks

Finished in August: 🎧 Paternity Case by Gregory Ashe read by Tristan James. More Emery Hazard and John-Henry Somerset fighting, flirting, and solving mysteries. But I really didn't enjoy the horrific crime in this one. #QueerBooks

Finished in August: 🎧 Transposition by Gregory Ashe read by Tristan James. I have mixed feelings about this entries series of "will they (detective partners), won't they" and "hate to love" mysteries. But I am reading all of them. #QueerBooks

Finished in August: 🎧 Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Törzs read by Saskia Maarleveld. Engaging speculative fiction, with satisfying puzzles and a new take on magic. #QueerBooks

Finished in July: 📕 Rachel Carson: Pioneer of Ecology by Kathleen V. Kudlinski. I found this in a #littlefreelibrary. I didn't really know anything about her and this was a great overview. Well researched and well written. #Nonfiction books written for tweens are often solid intros to a subject.

Finished in July: 🎧 Spiderlight by Adrian Tchaikovsky, read by the author. Finally, I've read one of Tchaikovsky's books! He's a brilliant writer and very good narrator! Hey, I like spiders. If you don't, heed the title, heavy spider content. #Fantasy

Finished in July: 🎧 Automatic Noodle by Annalee Newitz, read by Em Grosland. Cozy, post-apocalyptic, novella about robots running a restaurant. Some peril. Inherently queer. If you Becky Chambers' books, you will like this. Stand out narration on the audiobook too!

Finished in July: 🎧 The Phoenix Keeper by S. A. Maclean, read by Stephanie Bentley. Cozy novel about an anxious, queer zookeeper, who wants to restore the endangered phoenix population. Enemies to lovers. This was cute but the main character annoyed me quite a bit. #QueerBooks #AudioBooks

Finished in July: 📚 Gay Girl Prayers by Emily Austen; poetry. Austen reinterprets bible verses to affirm and uplift queer, feminist, and trans realities. My favorites are the Matthew 25 series. #QueerBooks #Poetry

Finished in June: 🎧 The Emperor and the Endless Palace by Justinian Huang read by Dylan J. Locke, Will Dao, Telly Leung. A multiple lifetime spanning queer romantasy. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of "on screen" sex, definitely a book for adults. I wanted more from the ending. #QueerBooks
