We are sad to learn that filmmaker Peter Medak, director of the 1980 horror classic THE CHANGELING, has passed away at the age of 88. His genre credits also include SPECIES II, along with episodes of TALES FROM THE CRYPT (“The New Arrival”), MASTERS OF HORROR (“The Washingtonians”) and HANNIBAL.

Irrefutable evidence that Atlantis was located in the North Sea and the Dutch descend from Atlanteans. Proof A: this sentence right here. 99% sure this was said when they first step on future Flanders after Atlantis sunk.

Proof B: this now infamous Instagram post of Greek prime-minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, which indicates that the word Netherlands was a mistranslation of Ancient Greek for Atlantis.

Last night I had a dart throwing competition alongside seven more people. Haven't played darts in years. My aiming was dogwater and I even broke one dart or two. Still ended up in third place. ????

Ah yes, famous survival movies Brokeback Mountain and West Side Story.

The more I read Dracula the more it feels like adapting it to a movie is a rite of passage for any filmmaker. Just the prologue alone you can tell there's about a thousand ways to tackle it in an audiovisual format.

You can pinpoint which scenes are taken from the novel almost verbatim. The interaction with the gypsies reminds me of Herzog's adaptation, the coachman resembles Browning's, Jonathan Harker's shock and terror resembles Murnau's and the brides resemble Coppola's, albeit less graphic.

maybe i'm old fashion but the coolest thing about video games is being taken to new worlds that i hadn't thought up and experiencing something exciting that the artists behind the game want to show me

The Dilophosaurus from Jurassic Park. Saw it on TV when I was around age 4. The T-Rex escape was terrifying, but the scene with Nedry was even more traumatizing. By age 6 I saw the movie on VHS and had a blast.
